The alien attained so much power, it had become indistinguishable from divinity. It realized the imperfections of its own species and eradicated it in under an hour.
Where there was once an population of trillions in an bustling galaxy, was nothing. It was lonely. It wanted a family that it could call its own. It wanted a home.
So it made the Milky Way and special place called Earth. He created a family of Divine Powers to cherish and interact with. They weren't perfect, but perfection had been lonely.
It poured it's power into the earth, giving life and divinity to the soil and waters of the planet. For billions of years, it and it's family took care of it...
